Jerry Lee Thigpen's Obituary
Jerry Lee Thigpen, 83, born on August 15, 1941, to Herbert Boyd and Hazel Irene Thigpen, departed this life on December 12, 2024, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by cherished family. He was welcomed into eternal rest by his beloved wife, Maurice, with whom he shared an incredible 55 years, and his two brothers, Norman and Billy Thigpen.
Join us in honoring Mr. Thigpen's life during visitation on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Labby Memorial Chapel. We invite you to celebrate his legacy at the funeral service on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Labby Chapel, followed by interment at Stephens Cemetery.
Jerry's memory will live on through his son, Robert Boyd of Leesville, LA; his daughter, Terry (Gabe) DeMuth of North Carolina; his grandson, Dorian (Ashleigh) DeMuth from San Antonio, TX; and three brothers, Larry Thigpen of DeRidder, LA; Royce (Debbie) Thigpen of DeRidder, LA; and Rodney (Beverly) Thigpen of Morgan City, LA. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Brown of Monroe, LA, and his faithful dog, Bo.
As an avid outdoorsman, Jerry loved hunting, gardening, growing fruit trees, and immersing himself in the joy of Western films. His sharp wit and storytelling talent were defining traits, reflecting his lively spirit. He treasured his family and shared countless moments of joy with his dog. In the years prior to her passing, he found happiness in birdwatching on the front porch with Maurice.
Jerry's dedication to his work was unwavering, as he spent 28 years in maintenance for the town of New llano until his retirement. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life, as he also served his country as a Vietnam Veteran in the Army for two years.
