Jerry Cecil Green's Obituary
Jerry Cecil Green, a beloved father, grandfather, friend, and devoted member of the community, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, at the age of 85, in Leesville, Louisiana. Born on April 3, 1940, in Breckenridge, Texas, to John Green and Leo Hash, Jerry's life was characterized by his unwavering dedication to family, hard work, and an enduring love for the great outdoors.
Jerry was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Eloise Carnline Green, with whom he shared 44 wonderful years of marriage, his son, Gary Green, and his Grandson, Gary “Gator” Lynn Green, Jr. He leaves behind a legacy of strength and love, surviving by his devoted daughter, Pam Whisenant and her husband Clifton of Proctor, Texas, and his three sons: Jerry “Marcel” Green and his wife Misty of Leesville, Louisiana, Bob Green and his partner Crystal of Gardner, Louisiana, and Kenneth Green and his wife Stephanie of Leesville, Louisiana. He was also a proud grandfather to 18 grandchildren and a doting great-grandfather to 25 great-grandchildren.
Jerry's life was marked by his service to his country; he served honorably in the military for 14 years, including two tours in Vietnam, where he was awarded three Bronze Stars for Valor. His bravery and commitment were a source of pride for his family and community.
A ranch foreman by trade, Jerry was known for his strong work ethic and determination. He was a man of many passions, including fishing, hunting, riding horses, and gardening, all of which he enjoyed amidst the beauty of the outdoors. He had a particular fondness for dirt track racing, often taking time to engage in the thrill of the sport. His friends and family knew him as strong-willed, hardworking, and deeply honorable, traits that he exemplified in all aspects of his life.
Jerry shared a special bond with his close friend, Pat Laurence, who stood by him through thick and thin. Together, they created memories that will be cherished forever.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Simpson Assembly of God Church in Simpson, Louisiana, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
A funeral service honoring Jerry's life will be held on August 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Simpson Assembly of God Church under the direction of Bro. Tully Burns. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Mora, Louisiana
