Jerry Emanuel Cooley's Obituary
Jerry Emmanuel Cooley was born in Longville, Louisiana on December 2, 1941 to Lonnie and Eva Simar Cooley. He passed away on November 27, 2025 surrounded by his devoted wife and children.
After graduating in 1959 from Longville High School, he proudly enlisted in the US Army. Mr. Cooley served his country for 6 1/2 years and was honorably discharged in 1966.
Before his time of service, he found the love of his life, Glenna Jane Snapp. They were married on June 5, 1961. Over the next 64 years of marriage, they built a beautiful family.
Once leaving the army, Jerry worked for Bell South telephone company for over 30 years, he retired in 1999. For many years after retiring, Jerry and Glenna traveled the country attending various craft shows to display woodworking creations. The Cooley‘s have been active members of Broadlands Bible Church. Jerry served as a church elder and was a chairman for 44 years. Jerry served on the Board of Directors for Camp Pearl for 8 years, 5 of those being chairperson. He also served on the Beauregard Parish School board for 8 years, 1 year as President and 1 year as Vice President. Jerry and Glenna also volunteered at the Beauregard Parish fair for 25 years. Mr. Jerry served on the fair board as Director at Large and Ward 4 Member Director. In 2023, Mr. Cooley served as the 94th King Beaufair and in 2021 he served as the parade Grand Marshal. For many years Jerry and Glenna were avid supporters of South Beauregard Athletics. The South Beauregard Lady K Basketball team held a special place in their hearts.
Jerry Emmanuel Cooley is survived by his wife of 64 years Glenna Jane Cooley; son, Kelly, “Bo” Cooley and wife Twila of Dry Creek; daughter, Kim Courville of DeRidder; grandchildren Mark Conner and Mallory; Dusty Conner and wife Abby; Tricia Cappel and husband Landon; Kelly James Courville and Natalie and nine great-grand grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at Broadlands Bible Church with Bro. Tim Bergen and Bro. Darrel Cline officiating. Visitation will begin on December 2, 2025 from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM and will continue on December 3, 2025 at 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, when the Funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM, with a Burial to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley, Louisiana at 3:00 PM. Those honored to serve as Pallbearers are Dewey “Nook” Wright, Mark Conner, Dusty Conner, Landon Cappel, Kelly James Courville, and Geoff Lee. Honorary pallbearers are Louis Powell, James Carpenter, and Leland Moss.
