Jasper Paul Nelson's Obituary
Funeral services for Jasper Paul Nelson Jr., 68, of Simpson, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville with Bro. Paul Settles officiating.
Burial will follow in the Old Leesville Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 in the funeral home.
Mr. Nelson was born in Vicksburg, Miss. He was a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.
Nelson was a lifelong resident of the Leesville-Simpson Community and attended the Main Post Chapel at Fort Polk and was a member of the VFW.
Nelson was preceded in death by his father, Jasper Paul Nelson, Sr.; mother, Claudie B. Wadley and brother Jimmie Nelson.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 46 years, Cornelia “Tina” Nelson and four children, Jeffery D. Nelson of New Orleans, Anglea Nelson of Leesville, Michael P. Nelson of New Orleans and Eric D. Nelson of Galveston, Texas; one sister, Barbara Nelson of Fairfield Calif.; six grandsons and one granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
