Jamil Curran Pickens' Obituary
Jamil Curran Pickens, 35, a native of Statesville, North Carolina, and resident of DeRidder, Louisiana, died September 1, 2020. He was born August 2, 1985 in Statesville North Carolina, the son of James Archie and Alexis Pickens Henry, Eddie and Angela Lovely. Jamil attended Jr. High School in Heidelberg, Germany and graduated from Leesville High School, Leesville, Louisiana 2003 where he was a member of the football team, Who’s Who and the National Honor Society. He is a 2007 graduate of McNeese State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing.

Jamil was a member of Interdenomination of Faith, Church of the Living God, Inc., Leesville.
Jamil is survived by his parents Alexis Henry of Statesville, North Carolina, Eddie and Angela Lovely of DeRidder, Louisiana; his brothers, Eric Pickens of Statesville North Carolina, Jewell Henry (Menchi) of Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, Andre Lovely of DeRidder, Louisiana, Kerthatis Lovely of Tallahasse, Florida; Jermaine Lovely of Savannah, Georgia, Big Brother Willie Brown of DeRidder, Louisiana. He also leaves behind his sisters, Latoya Lovely of Portland Oregon and Shontay Lovely of Tampa, Florida. Paternal grandmother, Mary Pickens of Statesville, North Carolina. Aunts, Elvira Smith of Charlotte, North Carolina; Harriett Smyres of Statesville, North Carolina; Hazel Niblock Brown of Dalzell, South Carolina; Alice Pickens of Denver, Colorada; Gwendolyn Davis (Marvin) of Belle Glade, Florida; Mirelle Miller of West Palm Beach, Florida. He also leave behind uncles, Alex Pickens, Jr. of Denver, Colorado; Ernest Lovely (Martie) of Loxahatchee, Florida; Alton Lovely (Shaniqua) of Montgomery, Alabama; Kenneth Lovely (Jackie) of West Palm Beach, Florida; Taurus Lovely (Marlina) of Royal Palm Beach, Florida; Taurance Lovely (Carmen) of South Bay, Florida. Niece, Sherry Rainer of Houston, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Labby Memorial Funeral Home, DeRidder, Louisiana.
Visitation is from 9:00 til 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 12, 2020, with funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at IDF, 1279 Pitkin Road, Leesville, Louisiana. Flowers can be sent to Interdenomination of Faith, 1379 Pitkin Road on Saturday between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. Cards can be mailed to 1740 Glendale Road DeRidder, Louisiana, 70634 or brought to the church on Saturday.
