James Franklin Williamson's Obituary
James Franklin Williamson, known to family and friends as J. F. passed from this life on Monday, November 27, 2023.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 1st at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Leesville. Officiating will be Bro. Darin Worthington, Bro. Craig Forque, Dr. Jerry Penfield, Bro. Joe Wellman, and Dr. Mary Lynn Williamson. Burial will follow in the Castor Cemetery under the direction of Labby Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday at the First Baptist Church.
James retired from the Federal Civil Service as the highest ranking Civil Service employee at Ft. Polk (Ft. Johnson). At his retirement he was serving at the Post Budget Officer with tours in the Panama Canal Zone, the Post Office and Private Insurance. James enjoyed a varied background in budget management and accounting.
After his retirement from the Federal Civil Service he worked and retired twice more, from Scepkoph Shipping and Role Play at Ft. Polk (Ft. Johnson). He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict and was posted in Germany. He served as a deacon in the Baptist Church for over 50 years and considered it the cornerstone of his life.
Preceding James in death were his parents: James Franklin Williamson, Sr. and Bettie Coodie of Hineston, La. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Geraldine Poe Williamson and his son, Terry Wayne Williamson.
He is survived by his daughter: Dr. Mary Lynn Williamson and two step granddaughters, Heather Garrison and Tamsin Garrison Cupernall of Jacksonville, FL., surviving sister-in-law is Loretta Martin Poe of Leesville, La. J. F leaves behind a host of loving nephews and nieces.
