James Wallace Nichols' Obituary
James Wallace Nichols, 94, of DeRidder, LA, passed away on Saturday,
May 7, 2011, DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at 10 A.M. at First Baptist Church of DeRidder with Rev. Lindsey Burns officiating. Interment will follow in Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will be held Monday, May 9, 2011, from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.
James was born on August 19, 1916, to Jimmie Mainer Nichols and Lee Nichols formally of DeRidder, LA.
He is survived by two sons,
James K. Nichols of Baton Rouge, LA and C. Joseph Nichols of Little Rock, AK; four sisters, Mae Nichols Presley and Joy Nichols Hudson, both of DeRidder, LA, Floye Nichols Herrington and Helen Nichols Green, both of Baton Rouge, LA; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-four years, Emma Lee Nichols.
He was a lifelong resident of DeRidder and a Deacon of First Baptist Church of DeRidder and the oldest male member of the church. He was the owner of
L. H. Harper Furniture Company, owner of Nichols Cricket Farms and Executive Director of the DeRidder Housing Authority.
