James Paul "J.P." Galloway, Jr.'s Obituary
James Paul “J. P.”Galloway, Jr., 89, of DeRidder, LA, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 13, 2011, 2 PM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA with Rev. Lynn Clayton officiating. Interment will follow in Lewis Cemetery, DeRidder, LA. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2011, from 5 P.M. until 9 P.M. and Monday, June 13, 2011, 9 AM until the time of the service, both days at the funeral home.
He was born on April 25, 1922, in DeRidder, LA, the son of Carolyn Clopton Galloway and James Paul Galloway, Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Lois McCullough Galloway of DeRidder; sons, James Paul “Jimmy” Galloway and wife Barbara and Tommy Galloway and wife Cheryl; daughter, Sharon Galloway Farquhar all of DeRidder; brother, Melvern Galloway of Merryville, LA; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
“J.P” was a native of DeRidder where he lived most of his life. He was the owner and operator of J.P. Galloway Logging. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II, serving in the European Theater. He was a P.O.W. for eight months before he finally escaped to freedom.
