James Henry "Jim" Harris' Obituary
James Henry “Jim” Harris, 66, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Friday, November 21, 2014, at Christus St. Patrick’s Hospital in Lake Charles, LA.
James was born on September 15, 1948, to James Marvin and Onita Farquhar Harris in DeRidder, LA. He was a graduate of DeRidder High School and LA Tech University. He was a retired forester with the LA Department of Agriculture and Forestry with over 35 years of service. He was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in DeRidder where he served on the board and served the church in many other capacities. He worked as a volunteer at God’s Food Box, loved camping and yard work. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. The family would cherish donations to Gods Food Box(a ministry of BAMA) and the Louisiana Methodist Children’s Home.
He is survived his wife of 46 years, Rev. Sharon Harris; son, Keith Allen Harris and wife Kim of Moss Bluff, LA; daughters, Jill Suzanne Harris Farris and husband Chad of Sulphur, LA, and Jessica Anne Harris of DeRidder; brother, Jerry M. Harris and wife Terri of Charleston, SC; nine grandchildren, Karley Farris, Kaylee Farris, Hunter Harris, Jourdan Fruge, Lauren Harris, Brody Fruge, Victoria Roper, Blake Fruge and Cannon Farris.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Wesley United Methodist Church in DeRidder with Rev. Heather Leyland officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2014, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA, and Monday, November 24, 2014, from 1:00 PM until time of the service at the church.
