James Joseph Jersin Sr.'s Obituary
James Joseph Jersin, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, in Leesville, Louisiana. Born on July 25, 1955, in Madrid, Spain to his parents, Frank Henry and Dora Jean Vodapich Jersin.
James was married for 43 wonderful years to Gisela Jersin. Together they created a nurturing home filled with laughter and warmth. James took immense pride in being a devoted father to his three sons—James Patrick Lechner of Germany; Matthias Lechner of Germany; and James Joseph Jersin Jr. of Leesville—and two daughters—Jennifer Maria Williamson of Leesville and Patricia Lechner of Germany. His ten grandchildren were the light of his life; their smiles brought him immeasurable joy.
Family was everything to James. He cherished every moment spent with them—whether it was sharing stories over dinner or engaging in lively discussions about history or space exploration. A passionate reader with an insatiable curiosity about the universe beyond our own planet, he found great comfort watching old WWII movies and had an enduring fascination with Apollo 13—a film he could watch countless times without ever growing tired of it.
Known for his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed, James touched many lives during his time here on Earth. Friends often remarked how easy it was to talk to him; he had an innate ability to listen deeply while offering thoughtful insights that made everyone feel valued.
As we remember James Joseph Jersin Sr., we celebrate not just the man who loved fiercely but also the legacy he leaves behind—a testament to what it means to be truly present for those you love.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date as they gather together in remembrance of this remarkable man whose spirit will forever live on through those who knew him best. Services are under the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
