James Gordon Gillard's Obituary
James Gordon Gillard, 88, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at his home with his loving wife by his side. James, the son of Evans “Tinnie” and Marie (Doucet) Gillard, Sr., was born on November 26, 1934, in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Graveside Service will be Friday, March 17, 2023, 2:30 PM, at Woodlawn Cemetery in DeRidder, LA, under the direction and care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.
James was a long-time resident of DeRidder. He was of the Methodist faith and was at one time a member of the First Methodist Church in DeRidder. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Boy Scouts of America, and was a member of the drainage board for Beauregard Parish.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of almost 40 years, Sally Dunand Gillard; sons, James Gillard, Jr of San Diego, CA, and Tinnie Gillard of Toledo Bend, LA; daughters, Lynette Rogers of Sulphur, Ellen Perkins of College Station, TX, Anna Sonnier of Corpus Christi, TX, and Gena Cooper of Alaska; brothers, Bobby Gillard of West Lake, and Karl Gillard of Lake Charles; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Tinnie, Sr. and Marie Gillard; brothers, Evans Gillard, Jr, Ray Gillard, and Clarence LaFarque, Jr; sister, Shelia Roberts.
