James Edward Gaffey's Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Edward Gaffey, a devoted husband and loving father, who passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, at the age of 72. Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, to Nancy and William Gaffey, along with five brothers and one sister. He traveled with his spouse of 48 years through various military stations. Stationed at Fort Polk in 1986, he and his family remained in the community he considered his home. He was a barber for 55 years of his life. He enjoyed socializing at the men's gossip place - his barber shop. He was the proud owner of Barber Xpress on Entrance Rd for 20 years, of which he assumed ownership in 2004. He was quick with a smile, always had a joke, never met a stranger, and certainly had the gift of gab.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nancy Gaffey, William (Bill) Gaffey, and his brother David Gaffey of Massachusetts. Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Kathy Gaffey; children Christy (Gaffey) Johnson, Daniel Johnson, and Laura Gaffey; and his grandchildren, whom he bragged about regularly, Analiese Gaffey, Chloe Johnson, and Joel Johnson. As per his request, he will be cremated with no service.
