Jack V Jones' Obituary
Jack V. Jones, age 98, of DeRidder, LA, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 in Knoxville, TN. Jack was born on January 14, 1924 in Austin, TX. He is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Jackie Wimberley Jones.
He was a devoted member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where he was music minister for many years. There wasn’t a stringed instrument that if put into his hands he could not play.
Brother Jack, as he was lovingly called, was known for being a man of absolute faith and conviction. His greatest treasures in life were his church and his family.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, LaNell Matthews, Johnny Jones, Nancy Mitchell, Rhonda and Keith Decker, Connie Clawson and Mark and Cat Jones as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A veteran of WWII, Brother Jack, served in the Navy and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was very proud of his service to this country he loved and spent many years speaking with young people and service members about his experiences.
A service will be held at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 8553 LA-464, Knight Community, DeRidder LA on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM with internment following the service at Hinson Cemetery. A reception, hosted by his church family, will be held at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church immediately following internment
