Hugo Cespedes' Obituary
Funeral services for Hugo Cespedes, 77, of Leesville will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 4, 2009 at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville with Rev. Jimmy Glass officiating. The burial will follow in the Holly Grove Cemetery in Anacoco.
Friends may visit Thursday, December 3rd from 5pm until 8 pm and on Friday, December 4th from 8:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville, Louisiana.
Hugo passed away on Sunday, November 29th at the Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville He was the son of Adrian and Luisa Eva Angeldois Cespedes, Sr. and was born in Lima Peru, South America. He moved to the Chicago area when he was 22 years old, then to Los Angles and then San Francisco where he and his wife owned and operated The LaPlaya Restaurant. Approx 16 years later they retired and moved to Leesville. Hugo taught himself to speak English and used his speaking abilities as an English/Spanish Translator for the Vernon Parish Court System and Fort Polk for a number of years. He loved to play the guitar, piano and to sing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Adrian Cespedes, Jr., his sister Rosario Rodriquez, and his step-son, Michael Rodgers.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patty Cespedes of Leesville, LA; Sons, Hugo (wife, Susanne) Cespedes, Jr. of Ft Lauderdale, FL and Adrian Cespedes of Huntington Beach, CA; Daughter, Sandra Merizalde of Anahine Hills, CA; Grandchildren, Natalia Merizalde, Jacqueline Cespedes and Gianni Cespedes; Step grandchildren Erin Rodgers and Patricia Goldberg; Nephew, Julio Raygada.
