Horace H. King's Obituary
Funeral services for Horace H. King, 75, of Slagle, Louisiana will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 10th from 5 pm - 9 pm, and on Wednesday, September 11th, from 8 am until service time in the chapel.
Horace, the son of Paul H. and Ruby M. Smith King was born September 14, 1937, in Waurika, OK. He passed away Saturday, September 7th at his residence in Slagle.
Mr. King retired from the United States Army as a First Sergeant and remained a military man even after his retirement. During his service in the Army he served in the Vietnam War and received the Bronze and Silver Stars. After retirement he went to work for the State of Louisiana at the Leesville Developmental School for twenty years. He loved to fish, spending time at the lake and support his family in all their activities.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Francis King of Slagle, LA; daughters, Paula Getz of Karnes City, TX and Pamela Tuneberg & husband, Scott of Woodworth, LA; brother, Weldon K. King & fiancé Bess of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Joey Getz & wife, Melissa and Erin Moore & husband, Cody and great grandchildren, Jayden Getz and Madelyn Moore.
