Horace "Buster" Calcote, Jr.'s Obituary
Horace “Buster” Calcote, Jr., 59, of DeRidder, LA, entered peacefully into rest on Sunday, April 25, 2021 in Florien, Louisiana. Buster was born on February 10, 1962 in DeRidder, LA to Horace “Red” Calcote, Sr. and the late Pansy Coleman Calcote.
Visitation will begin Tuesday, April 27, 2021, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Friendship Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 10:00 AM, at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Johnson and Bro. Tim Cooley officiating. Interment will follow at Lewis Cemetery, DeRidder, LA.
Buster worked as a Guardian for children at the state school in Pineville for many years until his retirement. He was also an operator for ESW/PPI. He was known to not have any one dislike him he was a man that loved everyone and everyone loved him. In his spare time, he was coach for the Little League teams in the area and he was a certified referee for LHSAA. He was a true sportsman and loved to fish and hunt. He was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church where he took care of the grounds of the church. But most of all he loved his family and his friends.
Preceded in death by his loved ones; mother, Pansy Calcote; father-n-law, Kelby Cooley; grandparents, Collin and Willie Mae Calcote and Manning and Carrie Bell Coleman; brother-n-law, Joe Lambert; sister-n-law, Marlanea Cooley.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donette Cooley of DeRidder, LA; father, Horace “Red” Calcote, Sr.; sons, Logan Calcote of DeRidder, LA and Brady Calcote of Baton Rouge, LA; brother, Bradley Calcote and wife Tracie of Rosepine, LA; mother-n-law, Shelby Cooley of DeRidder, LA; brother-n-laws, Byron Cooley and wife Tonia of DeRidder, LA, Kerry Cooley and wife LeeAnn of DeRidder, LA and Karlos Cooley and wife Karlene of DeRidder, LA; sisters, Virginia Lambert of Rosepine, LA, Diania Berry of Rosepine, LA, Misty Calcote of Rosepine, LA; sister-n-laws, Kaylon Jones and husband Tom of Longville, LA and Rhonda Cooley and husband Tim of DeRidder, LA and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Those honored to serve as pallbearer are Phillip McCollough, Stephen Brown, Ryan Calcote, Tyler Bailey, Mikey Hoskey, Tater Reynolds and Ovie Gill.
Those honored to serve as honorary pallbearer are Hagen Smith, Karson Cooley and Karter Cooley.
In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made in Buster’s memory to the Friendship Baptist Building Fund, DeRidder, Louisiana.
