Herbert E. Shaw's Obituary
Herbert E. Shaw entered peacefully into rest on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at the age of 90 years, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Herbert was born on October 21, 1932, in Quinter, Kansas to Joseph Earl and Aldena Whismore Shaw.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the chapel of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, starting a 10:00 AM with a visitation starting at 9:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Beauregard Cemetery. Funeral services under the care and direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder.
After graduation from high school, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served for four years. He retired from the DOTD, where he was employed for 35 years. He was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed working with his cattle and telling stories to whoever would listen. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Lisa McCain and husband Gerald of DeRidder, Tanya Everett and husband James of DeRidder, and Larissa “Prissy” Williams (Lee Burgess); grandchildren, Brandon McCain, Andrew Everett, Kristin Taylor and husband Brian, Ryan McCain and wife Bridgette, Tyler Brown and wife Jaide, and Kyle Everett; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Aldena Shaw; wife, Wanda Faye Blankenbaker Shaw; brothers, Bill Carter, Harold “Pete” Carter, Robert “Bob” Shaw, and Byrl “Bud” Shaw.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Brandon McCain, Andrew Everett, Ryan McCain, Tyler Brown, Kyle Everett, and Brian Taylor.
