Harry Hutches Henderson's Obituary
Visitation for Mr. Harry H. Henderson will be held from 9:00a.m. until 1:00p.m. on Tuesday , December 30, 2014 in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder. Graveside services will follow in the Central Louisiana Veteran’s cemetery in Leesville with Rev. Tim Lee officiating.
Harry Hutches Henderson was born on August 26, 1941, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is survived by his father Samuel R. Henderson, his sister Kerryl Lynne Henderson, two brothers Thomas C. Henderson and Richard W. Henderson, three children Ashley S. Henderson, Tara Bonnie Henderson, and Boni B. Henderson, as well as five grandchildren Noah Barber, Chloie Henderson, Mitchell Henderson, Autumn George, and Ethan George.
Harry had numerous distinctions throughout his life. When he attended LSU in the 1960’s he was Drum Major for the Golden Band from Tigerland. Afterwards, he entered the United States Air Force where he worked on ICBM’s and earned numerous outstanding service awards. When he retired from a career in construction work, he attended Western Carolina University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, graduating Summa cum laude. He had not only a regular Pilot’s license but also a Commercial Pilot’s license, and loved flying. Other passions of his were boating, electric trains and coaching the LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints from his armchair.
Harry was a generous man, with great wisdom and insight. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed by his friends and family.
