Harold E. Harris,
Harold E. Harris, 83, passed away at The Guardian House in Lake Charles, LA, on July 11, 2009, after a long illness. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at 2 P.M., at First United Methodist Church in DeRidder, LA, with Rev. Mike McLaurin officiating. Burial will follow in Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will be from 5 P.M. until 9 P.M., Monday, July 13, 2009, and from 9 A.M. until 11 A.M., Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, and from 12 noon until time of the service at First United Methodist Church in DeRidder.
Mr. Harris was a resident his of Rosepine, LA, having moved there upon his graduation from LSU. He was the agronomist at the LSU West Louisiana Experiment Station for many years before his retirement.
Her served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac C. and Cliffie Watts Harris of Saline, LA, and his brother,Olin Harris of Shreveport.
Harold is survived by his wife, Bobbie Myers Harris; sons, Mike Harris and wife Cindy of DeRidder, Pat Harris and wife Susan of Atlanta, GA, Tim Harris and wife Lisa of Kingwood, TX, and Ted Harris and wife Sheilia of Alexandria, LA; grandchildren, Cory, Jamie, Ryan, Ross, Kelsey Jenna and Cliff Harris, Chelsea(Duncan) Faherty, and Nicole Driscoll; seven great grandchildren.
The family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association, First United Methodist Church of DeRidder or charity of choice.
