Grover Cleveland Owers' Obituary
Funeral services for Grover Cleveland Owers, Sr., 95, of Leesville will be Thursday, September 18th at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Hornbeck, Louisiana with Rev. Huey Haymon and Rev. Edwin McCollough officiating. The burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Hornbeck, Louisiana. Friends may call Wednesday, September 17th from 4:00 p.m. until time of service on Thursday at the church.
Mr. Owers passed away Monday, September 15th at The Woodlands Health Center in Leesville, Louisiana. He was a lifetime member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. The singings held on Saturday nights at Oak Grove Baptist Church were his life, he loved Gospel music. He retired from Sabine Parish School Board meat processing plant at Florien High School and he also worked as custodian at Hornbeck High School.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over sixty four years Ena Alison Owers.
He is survived by four sons; Nathan Owers of Beaumont, Texas, J.D. Owers of Hornbeck, Louisiana, Grover C. Owers, Jr. of Hornbeck, Louisiana and Roderick Owers of Hornbeck, Louisiana; three daughters; Elena Owers Thornton of Hornbeck, Louisiana, Genella Sims of Leesville, Louisiana, and Betty Brown of Beaumont, Texas; sister Crystal Read of Hornbeck, Louisiana; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
