Glyn O Nelms' Obituary
Funeral services for Glyn O. Nelms, 71, of Hornbeck, Louisiana will be Friday, September 5 at 10:00 AM in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, with Rev. Wayne Chance and Rev. Bill Hines officiating. The burial will follow in the Florien Cemetery in Florien, Louisiana. Friends may call Thursday, September 4th from 2:00pm until 8:00 pm in the funeral home and again on Friday from 8:00 am until time of funeral
Mr. Nelms passed away Tuesday, September 2nd at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana.
He was born in Negreet, Louisiana. Mr. Nelms served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hornbeck. He loved fishing at Vernon Lake; he had a passion for growing vegetables and sharing them with the community. He also enjoyed working with wood and could fix anything. He retired from Fort Polk with over 30 years service as an electronics technician.
Mr. Nelms was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Agnes Nelms, and siblings Bertha Agartha, Everett, and baby girl Nelms.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Loraine Martin Nelms of Hornbeck, Louisiana; three daughters Sherrie Hodge and husband Hootie of Simpson, Louisiana, Karen Nelms of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Elwin Ellis and husband Lance of Hornbeck, Louisiana; five grandchildren Brandon Hodge and wife Ellen of Houston, Texas, Kellen Hodge and wife Lacy of Hornbeck, Louisiana, and Audrey, Leslie and Megan Ellis all of Hornbeck, Louisiana; two brothers Leon Nelms of Anacoco, Louisiana, and Dwight Nelms of Ocala, Florida; three sisters Dorothy Dixon of Silsbee, Texas, Shirley Byrd of Pleasant Hill, Louisiana, and Liz Lingenfelter of Shreveport, Louisiana, and a host of nephews , nieces and friends.
