Glen Raymond Kay's Obituary
Glen Raymond Kay, 68, passed from this life in DeRidder, LA on Sunday, September 16, 2018. He was born on December 18, 1949 in Galveston, TX to Sam Olen Kay, Jr. and Vernice (Haymon) Kay. On his soft side, Glen is remembered as a man with a tender heart toward The Lord, his family, children, and animals. On his competitive side, he is remembered as relentless, resilient, fortitudinous, and a man of grit. Glen began his career as a heavy equipment operator, after a short time with the Merchant Marines. One of his many gifts was that of spatial relations and, as a result, he was highly sought after as a crane operator. He retired in his early 30’s and became a professional pool player, often traveling and wearing disguises just so that he could find a game. In his later years he lived peacefully on a small farm in Louisiana. His uncanny connection to animals helped him to become a master at training dogs, especially German Shepherds. Perhaps one of Glen’s greatest pleasures though was spending time with family, especially during the holidays.
Glen is survived by his children, Clinton Earl Kay, Cliffton Arnold Kay, and Crystal Lynn Kay; his granddaughter, Kaylin Leanne Healer; his former wife, Martha Kay; his brother Robert Kay; sisters, Linda Finn and husband, Charlie, Betty Saragusa and husband, Joe; and numerous cousins; nieces; nephews; aunts; and uncles.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Olen and Vernice Kay; and his grandparents, Sam Olen Kay, Sr., Mary Davis, Louis Davis, Hezekiah Haymon and Lena Maddox Brister; and special niece, Stacey Morgan.
Visitation will begin Tuesday, September 18, 2018, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at First United Pentecostal Church in DeRidder, LA.
