Gideon Michael Capitano's Obituary
Gideon Michael Capitano, 19, beloved and cherished son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend to so many, passed away September 7, 2025, after tragically being killed by a drunk driver; he was surrounded by family and ER staff at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. He was a 2024 South Beauregard High School graduate, employed as a Day Laborer, with aspirations of becoming a Master Craftsman. He was a miracle baby, who grew into the most amazing young man. He had a gentle spirit; he was a “Mighty Warrior” with the most infectious smile that lit up the darkest room, a heart so big that his love, kindness, caring and compassion could circle the world over. He was taken before his life truly began, by a senseless act; he will be remembered not by the careless choice of a stranger, but by his heart of gold, his smile, his wonderful sense of humor, and his giving soul. While we grieve his physical loss, we take comfort from knowing he lives on in the hearts of all who love him. As was his nature to be a giver in life, so too was he in death. His final act on this Earth was to give others the ability to live, and/or to live an improved life, through the act of being a Donor; this is his legacy. He was an Angel, in human form, and is now our Angel in Heaven. We take comfort in knowing he is with Jesus, wrapped in His arms and love. Rest peacefully, sweet boy and know you are our strength, our Mighty Warrior, and our shining light. We will love you and miss you every day of our lives.
Gideon is survived by his loving parents Kristina and Jeff England, Michael Capitano and fiancé Janelle Kersey; his maternal grandmother, Theresa Cleary (affectionately known as Grams); step-grandparents, Lynn and Mike Burns and Bud and Joan England; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins; his girlfriend, Addison Thomason; and numerous close friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandpa, as well as his paternal Paw Paw and Maw Maw.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be given toward a foundation that will be established in Gideon’s memory
