Rev. Gervis H. Martin's Obituary
Funeral services for Rev. Gervis H. Martin, 83, of Anacoco, Louisiana will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at Beech Grove Congregational Methodist Church in Anacoco with Rev. Brent Noble and Rev. Bill Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 3, 2012, from 5 p.m. until time of service Tuesday, September 4th, in the church.
Gervis, the son of Marion Clinton Martin, Sr., and Sudie Cansadie Bond Martin was born July 27, 1929, in Pitkin, LA. He passed away Tuesday, August 28th, at his residence in Anacoco, LA.
Rev. Martin was a life time resident of Vernon Parish. He was a Baptist Minister having pastored in Vernon Parish, Sabine Parish and Lincoln Parish. He was a retired railroad agent and worked for Civil Service at Fort Polk. He loved his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Sarah Martin and two sons, David Martin and Wallace R. Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Jearline Martin of Anacoco, LA; son, Jimmy D. Martin & wife, Cynthia of Anacoco, LA; daughters, Linda Slaydon & husband, Bobby of Leesville, LA, Sandra Lynn Jackson & husband, Mike of Anacoco, LA and Rhonda Sharbeno & husband, Mark of Hornbeck, LA; step-children, Steve Harris & wife, Ida of Michigan, Rick Harris of Shreveport, LA, Gail Hernandez & Roger of Cleveland, TX and Kim Harris & Clyde of Cleveland, TX and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
