Gerald David Smith's Obituary
Funeral services for Gerald David Smith, 71, of DeRidder, Louisiana, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder, Louisiana with Rev. Frank Ott officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Whitaker Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2018, and before the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
Gerald was born April 24, 1947, in DeRidder, LA, to Lois Columbus and Mary Maurice West Smith. He passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018, in his residence.
He was a native and lifelong resident of DeRidder and a graduate of DeRidder High School. He was a mechanic and electrician in the offshore oil production industry. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving as an aircraft mechanic and a Vietnam veteran. Gerald loved to hunt and fish.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Judy Moses Smith; son, Ricky Smith of DeRidder; brother, Michael Lois Smith of Alamogordo, NM; three sisters, Elizabeth Elaine Farque, Margaret Joyce Lyon and Mary Ann Justilieu, all of DeRidder; and three grandchildren.
