Gerald "Jerry" Edwin Jackson's Obituary
BELLA VISTA, Ark. — Gerald “Jerry” Edwin Jackson, 71, formerly of
Simpson, La., and Livingston, Texas, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009.
Mr. Jackson was born Aug. 11, 1938, in Simpson, the son of Jesse Edgar and Leah (Hicks) Jackson.
He was a graduate of Simpson High School.
He married Janet Childs May 28, 1959, in Houston, Texas.
He later married Lily Meiski, in Jakarta, Indonesia. She died Jan. 29, 1985.
Mr. Jackson worked as a pipe inspector in oil fields throughout the world for nearly 40 years. He had been retired about 10 years.
He was an avid fisherman, and loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, friends and his dogs, Jack and Pogo. He enjoyed relaxing before the fireplace, camping and watching wildlife. He also was a fan of boxing and mixed martial arts.
Survivors include two daughters: Lynne Trimble and husband, Greg, of Bella Vista, Ark.; and Kaye Fair and husband, Charles, of Warrensburg, Mo.; three sons: Ayries Cameron Jackson and wife Sheila, of Fayetteville, N.C.; Gary Roland Jackson, of Bella Vista, Ark.; and Charles Edgar Jackson and wife, Nanya, of Aubrey, Texas; seven grandchildren — Heather Leigh Jackson of Houston, Texas; Ayrielle Jackson, of Wilmington, N.C.; Amy Fair, of Warrensburg, Mo.; Dillon Jackson, of Wilmington, N.C.; Gary Sho Jackson, of Japan; Gerald Edwin Jackson III, of California; and Jacob Edward Jackson, of Aubrey, Texas.
Also surviving are a sister, Loreen Hull, of Port Arthur, Texas; and three brothers, Robert and Hubert Jackson, both of Houston, Texas; and Paul Jackson, of Leesville, La.; and many nieces and nephews. Other survivors include Janette Leigh Trahan and Brooke Fuselier, of Sorrento, La., and Brittany Trahan, of Alvin, Texas.
Also preceding him in death were two sons, Larry Allen Jackson and Gerald Edwin Jackson Jr., on Jan. 29, 1985; three brothers, Raymond, Delbert and Harold Jackson; and a sister, Charlotte Walding.
His funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville, La., with the Rev. Jeremy Blocker officiating.
Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Simpson, La.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before the service Thursday.
