George Gary Smith's Obituary
George Gary Smith entered peacefully into rest on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the age of 70 years, 0 months and 21 days, at the Westwood Manor Nursing Home in DeRidder, where he was a resident for the last fourteen months. Gary was born on Tuesday, December 18, 1951 in Fort Polk, LA to Craig and Opal Faye Cryer Smith.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at 1:00 PM, at the Evans Cemetery in Evans, LA with the Rev. David Richmond, Pastor of Grace Baptist Church of Evans, officiating. Interment will follow at the cemetery in Evans. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Gary lived most of his life in the Vernon/Beauregard Parish area and worked as an insulator. He loved to fish and loved to garden. He was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed by those that loved him.
Gary is survived by his son, Heath Smith and wife Jamee of Gunnison, Colorado; daughter, Heather Smith and husband Jared of Golden, Colorado; brother, Ronald Smith and wife Oletha of Anderson, Texas; two sisters, Jackie Wilson and husband Terry of Alvin, Texas, and Renee Oddo of Angleton, Texas; three grandchildren, Brennon, Jackson, and Everly; two great-grandchildren, Weston and Brantley; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his father, Craig Smith; mother, Opal Quinn; step-father, Jack Quinn.
