George Earl Rogers' Obituary
George Earl Rogers, 72, entered peacefully into rest on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at his home in Rosepine, Louisiana. George was born to Earl Henderson and Shirley (Smith) Rogers on September 27, 1947 in DeRidder, Louisiana.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 22, 2020, from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a maximum of 25 people at any given time, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral service will be Monday, March 23, 2020, 2:00 PM, with a maximum of 50 people at any given time, in Labby Memorial Funeral Home chapel in DeRidder, LA with Rev. Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow at Beauregard Cemetery, DeRidder, LA. Labby Funeral Home is abiding by State and Federal guidelines for visitation and funeral gatherings.
George worked for 25 years at Fort Polk, LA. He served in the United States Air Force. He had a federal firearms license and was a gunsmith.
Left to cherish his memory are daughter, Lisa Davis, husband Riley of Rosepine, LA; sons, Douglas Rogers, wife Trudy of Longville, LA, Daniel Rogers, wife Jennifer of DeRidder, LA, David Rogers, wife Courtney of Rosepine, LA; brother, Andy Yocum of Natchitoches, LA; sister, Vicky Woods of Rosepine, LA; mother-in-law, Frieda Green of DeRidder, LA; grandchildren, Katie Reynolds, Abigail Rogers, Addison Rogers, Raylan Rogers, and Virginia “Lucy” Rogers .
Preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Velma Lorene Rogers; sister, Patsy Rogers Blanchard; father, Earl Henderson Rogers; mother, Shirley Smith Rogers Yocum; and father-in-law, A. J. Green.
Serving as pallbearers are Carey Blanchard, Andy Yocum, Kyle Yocum, Joe Hall, Ty Wyatt and Paul Smith.
