George Ottesen's Obituary
George Ottesen was born in New Orleans to the late Lucille and Finn Ottesen. He is survived by his brother, John and sadly missed by nephew, John Jr. (Barbi) and niece, Pam O. Kennedy (Patrick). He died at Woodlands Nursing Home in Leesville on the 29th of December after a lengthy illness at the age of 66.
George was an Army veteran with 20 years of service and an additional 20 years of civilian service. He and wife Barbara (deceased) lived in Leesville for the past 35 years.
He was a Vietnam Veteran, a Silver Star and a Purple Heart recipient. George was involved with various local associations including life member of the VFW post 3106, American Legion.
A memorial service will be held at Labby Funeral Home in Leesville at 1pm on Friday, January 6, 2012. In lieu of flowers, contributions to local charities are requested. Burial will be in Leesville National Cemetery, (after Completion) by Veterans Administration.
