George Phillip O'Neal's Obituary
Funeral services for George Phillip O’Neal, 87, of Leesville will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017, at 2 pm at Canaan Baptist Church in Leesville, with Bro. Morris Goins officiating. Burial will follow in the Canaan Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 1st, from 5 pm until 9 pm at the funeral home.
George, the son of Ivory and Dealy Ellis O’Neal, was born on May 21, 1929, in Port Arthur, Texas. He passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017, in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Mr. O’Neal served in the United States Marine Corps having served in China in the 1940’s. He retired from Texaco Refinery after 40 years. He was the President of the Optimist Club and coach for Little League Baseball. He loved fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, George Wayne O’Neal & Kenneth Mark O’Neal; brothers, James Earl O’Neal, Roy Cecil O’Neal & Oliver Juses (O.J.) O’neal and sisters, Helen Meyers, Boots Singley & Irme Ortego.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pat O’Neal of Leesville; son, Stephen Craig O’Neal; sister, Mary Lou Lawson of Texas; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
