George E. Martin, 74, of DeRidder, La. passed from this life on January 27, 2011 at DeRidder, La.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Dry Creek Baptist Church. Ministers will be Rev. Rod Martin, Rev. Joe David Pool and Rev. Charlie Bailey. Burial will be at Spring Creek Cemetery in the Kipling Community under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, La.
Visitation will begin on Friday, January 28, 2011, 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Bettie Martin of DeRidder; daughter, Denise Cole and husband Brad of DeRidder; granddaughter, Leah Ashworth of DeRidder; great granddaughter, Milanna Ashworth of DeRidder; four sisters, Icy Mae Wright of Carlisle, Ohio, Edith Kay Barnett of Dayton, Ohio, Genevieve Smith and husband Ronnie of Hazard Kentucky, Addie Lee Henry and husband John of Richmond, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Fern Martin of Franklin, Ohio; aunt, Edna Taulbee of Stanton, Kentucky; nephew, Jamie Martin of DeRidder, Louisiana and several other nieces and nephews from Ohio, Kentucky and Michigan.
George was born on December 30, 1936 to Laura Carpenter Martin and Herbert Martin in Jackson, Kentucky. George proudly served in the United States Army for a period of three years. He lived in Beauregard Parish for 54 years and was a member of the Dry Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge #338 of Pitkin, La.
