George Buckley Jr.'s Obituary
George Edward Buckley Jr., lovingly known as Eddie or "Tex," passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2026, surrounded by family, his beloved dogs, and the books he loved so much.
A proud Marine, Tex lived a life fueled by curiosity, adventure, and a genuine love of stories. He was rarely without a book nearby and spent years collecting, reading, and selling books at local flea markets, where he enjoyed sharing recommendations and conversations with anyone who stopped by.
Tex never met a road trip he didn't want to take, a historical site he didn't want to explore, or a movie he didn't want to see. He loved wandering flea markets, discovering hidden treasures, exploring battlefields and small towns, and finding adventure in ordinary weekends. He believed there was always something worth learning, seeing, or experiencing just down the road.
Known for his humor, storytelling, and gift for conversation, Tex had a way of making people feel welcome. Whether discussing books, history, movies, family stories, or whatever caught his interest that day, he genuinely enjoyed connecting with people and sharing what he loved.
Above all, he loved his family. He was a father, grandfather, husband, brother, and friend whose influence can be found in the stories, traditions, and memories he leaves behind. His curiosity, kindness, sense of adventure, and love of learning touched countless lives and will continue to do so for generations.
Tex is survived by many who loved him, including family, friends, fellow readers, road-trip companions, and countless people whose lives were made better simply by knowing him.
His family finds comfort in knowing that his final moments were spent peacefully at home, surrounded by the people, books, and dogs he loved most.
In lieu of flowers, pick up a good book, take the long way home, visit somewhere you've never been, or call someone you love just to hear their voice.
