George L. Armijo's Obituary
Funeral services for George L. Armijo, 72, of Leesville, Louisiana will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2011, at the First United Pentecostal Church, in Leesville with Rev. Mark Christian officiating. Burial will follow in the Leesville Cemetery in Leesville, LA under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm - 9 pm, Thursday, December 22, 2011, at the church.
George Leopoldo Armijo was born on December 12, 1939, in Horse Springs, New Mexico. He passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at his residence in Leesville, LA. Mr. Armijo served 24 years in the United States Army with two tours to Germany. He also served in Korean & Vietnam Wars. He retired from Civil Service after sixteen years at Fort Polk.
George was very proud to have served his country. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart and supported many military and veterans organizations. He loved his family and friends. He was a long time member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Leesville. His special friends were (Ma-Ma) Ethel Walker and Richard Westmorland, Ronald Dickey, and Phil Jacobson. In the past he loved to camp and deer hunt with Richard and other friends from the church.
He was kind and generous to his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; two brothers and first wife Kathryn Williams Armijo.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Smart Armijo of Leesville; sisters, Nellie Aragon, Maria Gutierrez, Vestina Jarmello & Frances Chavez, and brothers, Ladis Armijo & Gilbert Armijo all of New Mexico.
