Rev. Gail Welch's Obituary
Funeral services for Rev. Gail Welch, 68, of Anacoco, Louisiana will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2011, at Good Hope Baptist Church in Anacoco with Rev. Wesley Jackson, Rev. James Kay & Rev. Les Comeaux officiating. Burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery in Anacoco, LA under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2011, from 11 am until time of service Thursday at the church.
Gail, the son of Jim Olen and Edna Jewel Jeane Welch, was born July 31, 1943, in Leesville, Louisiana. He passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2011, at his residence in Anacoco, Louisiana. Rev. Welch was a minister of the Gospel for 32 years serving several churches in Louisiana and Texas. His last pastorate was in Buna, TX. Upon retiring from the ministry he joined Victory Baptist Church in New Llano, LA.
He served our country in the U.S. Army, and worked as a mechanic at Fort Polk. Gail loved spending time with his family and fishing. But his first love was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and his life was a testimony of his faith to the Lord even to the end.
He was preceded in death by parents and sister, LaRue Trottie.
He is survived by his wife, of 43 years, Virginia Ann Welch of Anacoco; sons, Rev. Chris & wife Rhonda Welch of Anacoco; Shane & wife Erika Welch of Wayne, OH & Shawn & wife, Brittney Welch of Anacoco; brothers, Rev. Larry Welch, Anthony Welch & Audie Welch all of Anacoco; sister, Mary Lea Smith of Florien; brother-in-law, James & wife Charlotte Martin of Leesville; grandchildren, Daniel & wife Jessica Ruiz, Nicholas Ruiz, Adria Welch, EvanLeigh Welch, Tristen Welch, Trinity Welch, Brooklynn Welch & Bryce Welch.
