Gail Patricia Michael Cable's Obituary
Gail Patricia Michael Cable, a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on July 9, 2025. Born on March 15, 1945, in the Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of Catherine and Shurley “Mike” Michael. Gail was raised in Williamsburg, Virginia, alongside her beloved siblings, Dennis and Holly.
A devoted member of the Leesville community, Gail spent decades volunteering her time and energy to support local causes, especially the Vernon Parish School Board Libraries. Since the 1980s, her presence was a familiar and welcome one in countless community activities.
Gail was passionate about many things in life—she found solace hiking the Appalachian Trail, joy in tending her garden, and strength in her deep Catholic faith. She especially treasured the warmth of large family Christmases, the challenge of a good crossword puzzle, and the laughter shared over board games.
She will be remembered for her radiant laughter, unwavering honesty, and generous spirit. Gail had an open heart and an open home—always giving to those in need, whether it was a struggling neighbor, a soldier far from home, or a friend of one of her children. Her kindness knew no bounds.
Gail is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Bill Cable; her daughters, Debbie and Cindy; her sons, Brian and Brett; her grandchildren, Brad, Brooke, Allison, Tyler, and Catherine; and her great-grandchildren, Owen and Ella. She is also survived by her sons-in-law, Bob and Tom, and daughter-in-law, Kellie.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, Louisiana.
