Frieda I Green's Obituary
Frieda Oertel Green entered peacefully into rest on Monday, July 25, 2022, at the age of 93 years and 4 months, in her home with her loving family by her side. Frieda was born on Monday, March 25, 1929, in Bad Nauheim, Germany to Karl Albert Oertel and Rosemarie Kohler Oertel.
Visitation will be on Saturday, July 30, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 31, 2022, with a visitation starting at 1:30 PM until the time of the service which will begin at 2:30 PM, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in DeRidder with Pastor Kermit Bostelman, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at the Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Frieda grew up in Germany and where she met the love of her life AJ Green who was serving in the Army. They were married on December 13, 1948 and spent 53 wonderful years together until AJ passing in 2001. She came to the United States on April 11, 1949 and became a U.S. Citizen in November 1950, one of her proudest moments in life. She worked at the International Paper Co. for 25 years in DeRidder as a bookkeeper. She received her notary public commission with the highest test grade in June of 1985 and received a letter from the Governor. She was the co-owner and manager of AJ Auto Electric until AJ passing. She joined Redeemer Lutheran Church in 2002 and was an active member of LWM where she served as secretary for two years and treasurer for seven years. Through LWM, she enjoyed in the making of prayer shawls.
Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Annelore Anton of Friedberg, Germany, and Rose Marie Helbig of Butzbach, Germany; grandchildren, Lisa Rogers Davis of Rosepine, LA, Douglas Rogers and wife Trudy of Longville, LA, Daniel Rogers and wife Jennifer of DeRidder, LA, and David Rogers and wife Courtney of Rosepine, LA; great-grandchildren, Katie Reynolds, Abigail Rogers, Addison Rogers, Raylan Rogers, and Lucy Rogers; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Rosemarie Oertel; brother, Albert Rudolf Oertel; husband, A.J. Green; daughter, Velma Lorene Green Rogers; son-n-law, George Earl Rogers; and grandson-n-law, John Riley Davis.
In lieu of flowers, Frieda wishes to have donations to be made to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 811 U.S. Hwy 190, DeRidder, LA 70634.
