Fredricka Susan Stevens' Obituary
Funeral services for Fredricka “Fred” Susan Stevens, 51,of Rosepine will be Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the Lone Star Baptist Church, Pitkin, LA with Bro. Bryron Williams and Bro. Bruce Austin, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Lone Star Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home, DeRidder, LA.
Mrs. Stevens passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at her residence in Rosepine, LA. She was born on February 20, 1958 in Chandler, Arizona and moved to Alaska that same year when her father got stationed at Elmendorf. She graduated from High School in Anchorage, AK in 1975. She moved to several different states and Europe before settling in DeRidder, LA. Mrs. Stevens won the highest spousal award of the Armed Forces the “Molly Pitcher Award.” She worked for the Federal Government as a Medical Coder until illness forced her to retire. Her family and faith in God were the most important things in her life. She will be missed every day by her family and friends and each was blessed to have her in their lives for the short time she was here.
Fred was preceded in death by parents, Ralph & Jessie Matheny; brother, Jack Smith; sister, Patricia Mingle; in laws Ernest & Billie Stevens; and sister in law Glenda Brawner.
She is survived by husband, William “Bill” Stevens of Rosepine, LA; daughter, Sydney Layne (Trent) James of Rosepine, LA; sons, Alex Hunter Stevens of Rosepine, LA & Eric Dale Stevens of Ft. Worth, TX; brothers Ellis “Bub” (Sharon) Smith of Anchorage, Alaska, Michael “Mike” (Sherry) Matheny of Tellico Plans, TN & Cord Matheny of Tellico Plains, TN; sisters Rebecca (Tom) Glenn of Albany, MO, Laura Kate (Randy) Jansen, of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren Hunter DaKota James & Jessiely Rayne James both of Rosepine, LA, and numerous nieces & nephews.
Visitation: Tuesday, September 29, 2009 9 a.m. until service time at the church.
