Frederick "Fred" William Ernst's Obituary
Graveside Funeral Service for Frederick “Fred” William Ernst, 80, of DeRidder, LA, will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, 10:00 AM, at Old Cypress Cemetery in DeRidder, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA. Minister officiating will be Pastor Daniel Lowe. Mr. Ernst passed from this life on Friday, October 18, 2013, at his residence in DeRidder with family and close friends by his side.
Visitation begins Monday, October 21, 2013, 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home, 2110 Hwy 171, DeRidder, LA.
Fred was born on Wednesday, April 12, 1933, in Topeka, KS and moved to DeRidder at a young age. He attended and graduated from Rosepine High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and served his country as a Sargent in the Korean War. He returned to DeRidder and made it his life and his home. He worked for Bob Scalfi for 45 years. Fred was a man of integrity and honor and was loved by so many. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
Survivors include 2 sons, Richard Ernst and wife Debra of Lufkin, TX and Johnny Ernst of Houston, TX; longtime girlfriend, Rebecca Clouse of DeRidder, LA; 3 stepsons, Harold Clouse, Jr. and wife Deanna of Mittie, LA, Donald Clouse of DeRidder, LA and Brad Clouse and wife Ginger of DeRidder, LA; 2 sisters, Ilo May Burns of Hicks, LA and June Rose Bentley of California and 2 brothers, Delbert Ernst of DeRidder and Mervin Ernst; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
