Fred served for over 20 years in the United States Navy. While serving he was stationed all over the world. He was Chief Petty Officer aboard the USS Forrestal during the Vietnam War and was aboard during the fire that broke out aboard the ship in 1967. He was very proud of his country and his service in the Navy and loved to share stories of his career with anyone who would listen. He was a man of strong Christian faith, and was a very faithful and longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Anacoco and of The Gideon’s International. Fred loved to fish, and spent many hours at his favorite holes catching white perch. He was a man who loved to tell stories and he had a lot of them! He will leave behind a wonderful legacy and his stories will be told for years to come by everyone who had the privilege to spend time with him.
