Frank Wesley Smith, Sr's Obituary
Frank Wesley Smith, Sr., 50, a beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2025 in Sugartown, Louisiana at the age of 50. Born on July 27, 1974 in Palm Springs, California to Glen and Penelope Gaye Kurten Smith Sr., Frank lived a life rich with love for his family and passion for adventure.
As a dedicated supervisor in the millwright industry, Frank was known not only for his strong work ethic but also for his vibrant personality. He had an opinion about everything—often shared with humor that could light up any room. His unique sense of humor made him a joy to be around; he had an uncanny ability to find laughter even in the most mundane moments.
An outdoorsman at heart, Frank found solace and excitement in nature. Whether it was mudding through rugged trails or camping under starlit skies with loved ones by his side or enjoying sun-soaked days at the beach—these were some of his happiest times. He embraced every opportunity to create lasting memories with those he cherished most.
Frank's greatest pride came from being a devoted father to his three amazing children: Frank "Little Man" Smith Jr., Brittany Smith (partner Cody McCarty), and Alexis Smith (partner Angel Marquez). His love extended deeply into their lives as well as into the hearts of his four grandchildren: Carter Lindsey, Derek Lindsey, Evan Lindsey, and Sofia Marquez. To them all—and especially to “Pawpaw”—he was more than just family; he was their hero who filled their lives with warmth and laughter.
He is survived by his parents Glen and Gaye Smith Sr.; brothers Glen Smith Jr. and Jonathon "JR" Smith (wife Morgan); sister Virginia "Ginny" Peters (husband Charlie); former wife of 15 years, Jamie Smith; his best friend, Michael Fontenot; along with numerous nieces, nephews’, cousins and friends who will forever hold him dear in their hearts.
Visitation will be held on Sunday January 19th from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder where friends can gather together to celebrate Frank’s remarkable life—a life marked by unwavering devotion to family that leaves behind countless cherished memories.
Though he may no longer walk among us physically—the spirit of Frank Wesley Smith Sr.—with all its vibrancy—is sure to live on within each person whose life he touched profoundly during these fifty beautiful years.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to Brittany Smith for Kase Breaux Benefit.
