Frank Wilson Grimes' Obituary
Frank Wilson Grimes was born on July 29, 1928 to Silas (Bennie) and Minnie Grimes. He passed away peacefully on December 20, 2020 with his wife Mattie Jane by his side, as she has been every day for the last 68 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother George (Monk) Grimes, and sisters Marie Wright, Evie Dowden, Ocie Lee Cobb, and Emma Lee Richmond.
Never content to sit still, he worked many years for the Vernon Parish Police Jury as part of the road crew picking up litter from the roadside and during his off time he could often be found outside with a rake in his hands; as such the world was always more beautiful when he was around. He was witty, kind, a bit mischievous, a fierce opponent in dominoes, and he will be missed dearly.
In addition to his beloved wife, Frank leaves his sister Ollie Mae Hussey of Houma, LA; daughters Christine Reynolds and Aline Hatcher, both of Vidor, TX, Glenda Brooks (Dwight) of Louisville, TN, and Joy Johnson (Ralph) of Vowells Mill, LA; and sons Bennie Grimes of Deweyville, TX, Larry Grimes (Judy) of Leesville, LA, and Bobby Grimes (Kay) of Anacoco, LA; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and countless other loved ones to remember him fondly.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 22nd at 11am at Oak Forest Baptist Church cemetery in Leesville, Louisiana with Pastor Ralph Johnson officiating. The family asks that you please observe safety guidelines due to COVID-19 by wearing facial coverings and practicing social distancing.
