Frances Edith Cooley's Obituary
Frances Edith Bohon Cooley, age 80, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026. She was born on March 7, 1945, to Harlen Williams Bohon and Ruth Hickman Bohon.
Frances was the beloved wife of Donnie Theron Cooley of Tyler, Texas. Together, they shared a devoted marriage of 62 years, building a life rooted in faith, hard work, and love for family.
She was a devoted mother and is survived by her children: Brent Aaron Cooley and wife Lynn Pittman of Dubberly, Louisiana, and Audra Cooley Bryan and husband Charles Andrew of Troup, Texas. Frances was a proud and loving grandmother to Austin Cooley, Nathan Cooley, Kyra Van Horn, and Demi Immel, and a cherished great-grandmother to Tristian Arroyo and Clara Cooley.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Harlen Williams Bohon and Ruth Hickman Bohon; her beloved daughter, Kimberly Ann Cooley Irving; and her sister, Sadie “Sue” Bohon Ware.
A Godly woman, Frances lived her life anchored in faith. She was a devoted wife, nurturing mother, loving grandmother, and a true friend to many. She taught her children to put God first and instilled in them the values of independence, responsibility, and perseverance.
Frances was also a dedicated businesswoman. She was president of the American Business Women’s Association in 1990 and in 1991, and was also a member of the Common Threads Quilt Guild of DeRidder, where she found joy in fellowship and creativity. She loved quilting, reading, and crafting, and she was especially known for the beautiful and elaborate cakes she lovingly made for family birthdays and celebrations.
For many years, Frances faithfully served the community as a secretary at DeRidder City Hall, where she was respected for her professionalism, dedication, and kind spirit.
Frances Edith Bohon Cooley will be remembered for her unwavering faith, strong work ethic, creative talents, and the deep love she poured into her family and all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the values she passed down through generations.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 12:00 PM with services beginning at 2:00 PM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Family burial will take place at Beauregard Cemetery directly after the service. Arrangements are under the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, Louisiana.
