Forris "Bud" Peters' Obituary
Memorial Services for Bud Peters will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the East Leesville Baptist Church with Bro. Tommy Kiker and Collin Edwards officiating.
Bud was born on October 31, 1940 to his parents, Scott and Dorothy Peters in Jennings, LA. He passed away on November 22, 2023 at his home in Leesville.
Bud spent his life as a master carpenter, mechanic and a man of many talents leaving behind beautiful pieces of his creations. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching old Western movies. Bud had a knack for figuring anything out, no matter the subject matter. His knowledge was vast and respected by his family and friends, a gentle giant who was always willing to help anyone in need.
Bud attended Southern Louisiana Institute, now known as University of Louisiana at Lafayette, studying and obtaining his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering in 1963. He began his career surveying the canals in and around Lafayette, Louisiana for water and waste lines. He continued his work in oilfield pipeline construction as well as residential and commercial developments. Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated AAA Transmission and Brakes in Lafayette. Following retirement, he made his home in Broussard, Louisiana caretaking for his mother, until settling in Leesville.
Bud is preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother Norris Peters.
Left to cherish his memory is his sister: Joyce Atchison; nephew: Lloyd “Skip” Atchison; niece: Rae Edwards and husband Lynn; great nephew: Collin Edwards; great niece: Sara Atchison Garner; great-great nephews: Maveryck Garner, Jasper Garner; great-great niece: Emmyrald Garner and a host of other family and friends.
As a caretaker, Bud would have requested in lieu of flowers to consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association alz.org/donate.
