Everett Marshall Woodyard Jr.'s Obituary
Marshall Woodyard, of DeRidder, LA, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024 after a short illness. Born in Washington, DC, on June 5th, 1944, to Everett and Elizabeth Woodyard as one of five children. He worked his whole life as a Parts Serviceman for International Harvester Trucks between Annapolis and Cheverly, MD. In his late teens he was a member of the Maryland DeMolay, a club created by Master Masons to guide young men into being great leaders and members of society.
As a young man, Marshall was married to Catherine Pummill and together they had two children, Mark and Beckie. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and going to the beach on family vacations with his twin sister, Martha, and her family, Ray, Candace and Nellie Swallow.
Once retired, he found love again with his high school sweetheart, Diana “Dee” Newman. While their later romance was short lived, it was, indeed, full of love and devotion to each other.
Marshall, fondly known as PopPop to his grandchildren, is survived by his wife of 10 years, Dee Woodyard, two children, Mark Woodyard (wife Tracey), and Beckie Simcic (husband Jay), four grandchildren, Brian Bruce (fiancé Nicole), Mason Woodyard (wife Mira), Hannah Simcic and Emma Woodyard, one great granddaughter, Bailey Bruce, sisters Martha Swallow and Sue Davis (husband Arnold) and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his dear stepsons and their families - Terry (wife Sara), Tim (wife Jen), Tommy (wife Nella) and Tracy, and their many children and grandchildren.
The Newman family lovingly, tirelessly and selflessly played a major role in providing care for both Marshall and Dee as they transitioned from MD to LA.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his brother Milton Condon, and sister Barbra Ehrman.
