Eva was a delightful woman, which we all witnessed her God-given talents. A woman of many talents, adventure and an inspiration. She took a genuine interest in her church family, community arts, working with children to excell in achievement of sports, music, theater, cooking, and art. She and her husband Lemuel is part of the Fort Polk history as well as the history of the Fort POlk Main Chapel when it originated with BG Wheelock and the other veterans of Korean Conflict and Viet Nam. She could capture the true essence of the freedom as well as the meaning of the arts. Gee we will surely miss her!Elaine Bastedo Johnston andthe Family of Earl E Bastedo andRalph E. Johnston, Jr
How she loved to sing, sing, sing! She truly enriched my life is many, many ways. MEt her in 1992 when we first came to Fort Polk and where we sang in the Main Post Chapel Choir. We sang a duet of "America the Beautiful" years ago at the Post Chapel (1999 or 2000?) after making a brief statement about diversity and received a standing ovation. We laughed and laughed and laughed about this for years after! It is the greatest memory of her I have. God has called a great one home and her light will shine eternally in our hearts. The entire Vernon Parish Community Choir, to which Eva introduced me in 1996, will miss her joyful spirit and beautiful voice. SING ON EVA! You are now in the greatest choir there is!
May God's presence comfort you and bring you peace during this difficult time. With deepest sympathy,Violet Manning
