Ernestine "Cookie" Hauser's Obituary
Ernestine “Cookie” Hauser was born May 4, 1931, to the Union of Rev. Ernest M. Lindsey and Zula Caton Lindsey. A Beloved mother, grandma, Great grandma, friend, and aunt was welcomed Home into Jesus's loving arms on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the age of 94.
She moved from Tennessee to Louisiana in 1976. She was married to George Hauser for 36 years. And in her younger years, she would sing with her brothers in the Lindsey Quartet. She was in the Cattlemen's Association, which allowed her to go on KPLC with John Bridges, where she cooked delicious beef recipes early in the morning. She helped with Buddy Ball and loved the children. She was a member at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she taught her special children in God Shining Stars class. In her last four years, she attended Gillis Baptist First Church, where she loved attending the older women's Sunday school class. She was a loving mother, grandma, and great-grandma. She had a servant's heart and loved to help people. She loves to feed the birds and watch the hummingbirds every day from her front porch.
Those to cherish her memory are her daughter, Melinda Joyce Bartlett, and husband Glenn; her son, Anthony “Tony” Floyd, and wife Fay; her grandchildren, Eric Hudson and wife Angela, Scott Hudson, Shasta Floyd, Danielle Shuff and husband Troy, Alex Floyd and wife Tenia, Jeremy Floyd and wife Kelly. Her great-grandchildren, Chloe Shuff Settle and husband Mason, Marissa Shuff, David Karlin, Kyle Floyd, Kenzie Floyd, Tahil Floyd, Eden Floyd, Sarah Floyd, Cody Hatchet, Bella Hudson, and sister-in-law Ruth Lindsay, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Hauser; her father and mother, Ernest and Zula Lindsay; her daughter, Janice Clay; her son, Greg Floyd; her brother, Ralph Lindsay; Roy Lindsay; Jim Lindsay; and her sister, Juanita Saul.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Internment will follow at Beauregard Cemetery.
We would like to take this time to thank Sage Oaks Assisted Living and Harbour of Hospice for the love and care that they gave to our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
