Ernest James “Ernie” Harper, 66, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Monday, December 1, 2014, at his residence near Kipling, LA. “Ernie” was born on Tuesday, July 27, 1948, to James Paul and Delores Kittrell Harper near DeRidder, LA. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at 10:00 AM at Shiloh Baptist Church in Kipling, LA, with Rev. Rod Martin, Rev. Wayne Holston and Tony Kittrell officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder, LA.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at 3:00 PM and Wednesday, December 3, 2014, all day at Shiloh Baptist Church, Kipling, LA.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014, 10:00 AM at the church.
Mr. Harper was a native and lifelong resident of the DeRidder/Kipling area. He was a self-employed logger and saw mill owner/operator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Linda Shirley Harper of DeRidder; two sons, James David “Red” Harper and wife J’nice of DeRidder, and Daniel P. Harper and wife Denise of Leesville, LA; two daughters, Sharon Bebee and husband Fred of Grant, LA, and Patti Sanchez and husband David of Natchitoches, LA; mother, Delores Collins; eight grandchildren, Chance, Ashley, Timothy, Amanda, Cade, Melanie, Hunter, Landon and Lane; three great grandchildren, Carmendee, Braylen and Bryleigh; one grandchild and one great grandchild yet to be born; and two brothers, Albert Harper and Jerry Harper, both of Sugartown, LA. He was preceded in death by his father; daughter, Sarah, and sister, Laura.
