Erdis Patrease McCarter's Obituary
A celebration of life for Erdis Patrease McCarter, 59, of Leesville Louisiana, will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at the Ellen Burr Baptist Church of Leesville with Rev. Earnest C. Smith, Jr. officiating.
Pat was born November 5, 1961, in Leesville, LA to Jessie and Clara Dean and went to be with her Lord on June 11, 2021, in Leesville, La. She attended Newton High School, Job Corps of America, Texas Christian University, and Delta School of Business and Technology. She was diverse in her job selections, and like other facets of her life, Pat excelled through hard work and dedication. Her devotion to duty and excellence resulted in her employers often recognizing and praising her as she moved on to prosperous opportunities. Pat found her love in serving others and growing & loving on her circle (as she called it), which included relatives and friends alike.
She married the love of her life, Richard McCarter on December 19, 2010. The loving couple was inseparable and complemented one another beautifully. Richard, affectionately known as “Mac”, was Pat’s rock; a strong, solid, and unchanging force whom she could always count on for help and support. He was her anchor; the person she felt comfortable with, the man she chose to share her life and experiences with, as well as confide in. Maybe most important of all, Pat and Mac were true partners in life. Their marriage was built on honesty, respect, loyalty, forgiveness, humility, and unconditional love. Together they developed and nurtured many loves; most notably, their love of hosting family and friends for special events, which always highlighted Pat’s culinary talent for producing magnificent meals that were as gorgeous as they were delicious.
Pat loved God and was a long-time member of Ellen Burr Baptist Church. She also loved cultivating her flowers and plants, cooking, and watching loved ones enjoy her food. Her family was her greatest love of all. She was happiest when her house was filled with loved ones. She lived for and adored her children and grandchildren, and they knew beyond a shadow of a doubt how much she loved them. One of Pat’s proudest accomplishments, which best epitomizes her spirit, is the indelible positive impact she has made upon countless friends, family members and mentees. Pat loved to share and spread love. And while that love came in various forms and fashions, if she had love for you, you knew it. She poured every fiber of her being into that love when she served it to you. Though she is notorious for her outstanding dishes and fabulous recipes for cuisine, her secret recipe for touching the lives and hearts of others is arguably her best work.
Pat was preceded in death by her mother Clara Dean and father Abe West. Pat is survived by her ever loving, patient and supportive husband; Richard McCarter, father; Jessie Dean, son; Aaron Dean (Chasity), daughter; Deliah McCulley (Chris), son; Jessie Flemons, son; Richard McCarter Jr., daughter; Letitia Dupree (Henry Jr.), son; Kevin McCarter (Nicole), son; Calvin McCarter, son; Carlos McCarter, her brothers and sisters, Kevin Dean (Beverly), Dale Dean (Beverly), Boris Mason, Billye Mason (Rachel), Dwayne Turner-West, Doug West (Toinette), Cheryl Cavitt (John), Deborah West-Williams, Sophia Gatewood (Americo), Vacochia Moss (Paul), Jessica Dean (Terry), and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
