Epsy "Matlock" Kathleen Kulaga's Obituary
Epsy Kathleen “Matlock” Kulaga, age 70, of DeRidder, Louisiana, passed away on November 15, 2025, in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was born on January 23, 1955, in Garvin, Oklahoma, to Clyde Matlock and Melda Bell Matlock.
Kathy was married to the love of her life, Henry Kulaga, for 47 wonderful years until his passing. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her father, Clyde Matlock, and her brothers Dale Matlock and Charlie Matlock.
She is survived by her three children who brought great joy to her life, Joey Kulaga and wife Brandi of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and their children Braxton, Anna Kate, and Jase; Angie Lambert and husband David of Germany, and their children Baylee and Eli; and Dustie Waddell and husband Shane of DeRidder, Louisiana, and their children Amelia and Hadley.
She is also survived by her devoted mother, Melda Bell Matlock, and her siblings: Floyd Matlock, Gary Don Matlock, and Sue Fields, all of Oklahoma.
Kathy was a kind, loving, and deeply selfless woman whose life reflected the gentle strength of her Christian faith. She had a tender, meek spirit and found joy in the simple things—working in her yard, creating beautiful things, and spending time with her family. She loved antiquing with her husband, and her grandchildren were truly the apple of her eye. She held a special bond with her mother and sister, relationships she treasured dearly.
She also had a heart for ministry and faithfully served children through Awanas, sharing the love of Christ through her example and dedication.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by burial at 12:30 PM at Cooper Cemetery. The Funeral Services will be officiated by Bro. Gary DarDar. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Eli Lambert, Braxton Kulaga, Jase Kulaga, Shane Waddell, David Lambert, Paul Waldrup, and Heath Tabor.
