Rev. Emmett Dale Miller's Obituary
Funeral services for Rev. Emmett Dale Miller, 64, of DeRidder, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 14, 2014, at Diamond Baptist Church in DeRidder with Rev. Roy Lee Johnson and Rev. Charlie Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Lewis Cemetery in DeRidder, LA, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder. Brother Dale passed from this life on Thursday, September 11, 2014. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Sunday, September 14, 2014, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the church.
Rev. Miller was born on November 22, 1949, to Elmer Lee and Lottie Phillips Miller in Galveston, TX, and was reared in Anacoco, LA. He attended seminary at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and was a missionary in Maryland for two years. He became pastor at Diamond Baptist Church in DeRidder in 1978 where he remained pastor until his passing. He was also a junior high school teacher at DeRidder Junior High School for almost 30 years. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of Dry Creek Baptist Encampment where he served multiple terms as President.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sonja C Miller of DeRidder; two sons, Terry Miller and wife Mandi of Chattanooga, TN, and Davin Miller of Augusta, GA; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
